Just in time for Diwali, I have a special outfit post for you all! Diwali is the biggest festival in India and is celebrated with a lot of enthusiasm throughout the country. The streets, markets and houses are lit up with the most gorgeous, intricate lights. It’s all so festive and mirthful! Everyone is busy preparing for the big day – shopping, decorations, cooking sumptuous dishes and so on. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a Hindu or not, the festive fever sweeps every Indian under its spell. For fashionistas, Diwali is all about dressing up in their best ethnic attires. Stunning suits, sarees, lehngas, traditional jewelry! However, you can always swap your usual style for something that is currently in vogue. This year, I’m going to talk about how you can Modernize your Diwali look without losing the ethnic touch and steal the spotlight!
I don’t know if I would have brought up this idea on the blog earlier but it seems this year is the perfect time to talk about the Indo-Western trend. I have talked about this trend in some of my previous posts as well (HERE). The Indo-Western trend allows us to Westernize our ethnic attire and get the best of both worlds. A number of styles have evolved around this idea – Palazzo pants, shirt style kurtis, waistcoats with Indian print, long skirts with a sexy blouse, to name a few.
These outfits are a fresh take on this festive season’s dressing ideas.
This Diwali I have teamed up with an Indian Fashion brand- Oxolloxo (already introduced Here) to help you Modernize your Diwali look. For my outfit, I opted for this gorgeous printed off the shoulder blouse and paired it with a pair of yellow palazzo pants. The yellow brings a pop of color to the outfit because festivals are about beautiful colors, aren’t they?
To make this outfit distinct from my other ones, I also took a matching yellow dupatta because what’s an ethnic outfit without a dupatta. Finally, some light makeup (tinted moisturizer, kajal and baby lips) and a few accessories to complete the look. Now because I don’t wear jewelry in Muharram, I couldn’t add the kind of accessories I would have liked to ; but you can wear some elegant pieces like dangers or a few bangles to accessorize your outfit.
Now as I said, when you embrace this trend, don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. Play with fashion and try to make the best use of its flexibility nowadays.
I highly recommend you all to check out Oxolloxo’s Autumn /Winter collection. So are you going to Modernize your Diwali look this festive season?
