For most of us a kajal must have been the first ‘makeup’ product that we used. And it still remains the most important one for many. Among kajals, the Maybelline Colossal Kajal tops the list when it comes to the preferred kajal. At a super affordable price, it delivers a fabulous amount of pigmentation and product quality. Last year, when Maybelline launched an improved version of the Colossal Kajal, I was really excited to give it a try. Luckily, I received it in and guess what, I’ve been using it ever since!
What company says…
Colossal Kajal goes Blacker & Bolder. New Maybelline Colossal Kajal Super Black – It gives you a 2X blacker look in one smooth stroke that stays intense for up to 16 hours! With light absorbing pigments, the formula delivers 2 times more blackness* for double the intensity. Enriched with oil for super smooth application, it glides on effortlessly, adding a rich, glossy sheen color that stays waterproof and smudgeproof for upto 16 hours.
In the mirror of my own experience
The packaging of Maybelline Colossal Kajal is quite similar to the first one. The only difference is that the color black is the dominating color this time instead of yellow. I find this change really attractive! It is a mechanical twist-up pencil tube, which is retractable. The cap of the pencil closes tightly so the packaging is nice and secure.
It has a soft and smooth texture. It glides on the eyes very well. mostly kajals don’t work great in my super watery water lines but this one works great there too. I can use it on my upper lids as an eye liner as it has really creamy texture.
It is very pigmented and is the blackest black. The blackness is more than the original Colossal Kajal. You need to apply 2-3 strokes on the waterline and the lower lash line to show the real intensity. The brand claims it to be a one stroke kajal though but one stroke doesn’t give a notable line. On the upper lids if you are using Maybelline kajal as eyeliner, you need to give some more strokes.
It gives a matte finish and looks great on the eyes. In spite of a matte textured kajal it never feels dry. It gives a defined effect to the eyes in just a few strokes and a refreshing change to your face instantly. You will rarely catch me wearing a kajal but whenever I do, its the new Maybelline Colossal kajal.
The staying power of this kajal is great. The brand claims to stay smudge proof for 16 hours but in reality it stays for 4-5 hours on my eyes. I have super oily eyelids though so normally it will last for about 6-7 hours that is good for a kajal. It begin to fade after 5 hours and start to come down on the under eye area. You can increase the lasting power by applying compact or loose powder on under eye area.
Smooth and creamy texture
Easy to apply
A bit expensive if compared to original Maybelline Kajal
One stroke claims is not true, you need 2-3 strokes
Claim of 16 hours lasting power is exaggerated
Totally impressed with Maybelline Colossal Super Black Kajal. I have been loving the original Maybelline Colossal kajal as well but the new one is a definitely an improved version of that kajal. It’s highly pigmented with smooth and creamy texture. Works great on both upper and lower lash line even on the water line. It’s easy to apply and stays long. I will recommend it to my readers. Though the price is a bit high as compared to the original one but over all it will be a good buy.
