Ways To Start Your Day Positively
I think I’m not a right person to teach you about positivity because I’m still a learner myself. I’m learning a lot of things to be positive and I believe it’s necessary that we start our day on a positive note. Whenever we wake up in the morning, we know we have a new day ahead of us. A precious day, given by God, that we are lucky enough to wake up to. He blesses us with a day full of opportunities, power and freedom to do something on our own. And it’s up to us what we do with it. I have been struggling with it till now due to my sleep problem.
My morning always used to start late. I used to do all my work in a hurry because the time was short and there were so much to do. It always frustrated me and I was unable to do everything on time. Now when I’m not taking pills for sleeping, I have started to wake up early in the morning and believe me it has made a huge difference. It has given a positive change in my attitude, my work and the relationship with my family. Today would love to share some ways I found very helpful and effective to start my day on a positive note.
Wake up on time
The most important and the toughest part (hey if you don’t have a habit of getting up early in the morning), all depends on it. Make sure you don’t press the snooze button whenever your alarm rings. Wake up, and think about the things Allah has blessed you with. Think about your family, your job, your health, your friends whatever you have. Never think about the things you have lost or don’t have. Do this only for 5 minutes & notice the difference.
Stretch your body
Before you leave your bed, stretch your whole body as much as you can and take some deep breath. Performing simple stretches and breathing exercises increase your endorphin level and begin the day feeling pumped up and happy. Now express your gratitude to your God. I offer Namaz after leaving my bed. I’m doing it regularly and I’m thankful to Him for this. It gives a positive energy to me and makes me peaceful and calm. you can feel free to choose any name that works best for you.
I’m making it a habit to drink enough warm water because after a long rest my body feels dehydrated and it needs water. Sometimes I squeeze a half lemon into the water and drink. It not only gives a nice taste to water but is also very good for digestion and our skin.
I love looking at nature, green grass, plants, flowers, clean sky and listening to the chattering of birds. These things remind me how much beautiful things I have all around to see and feel. Nature gives us a sense of life. A life that is very precious and we get it once. Walking on the green grass in bare feet give a refreshing feeling and gives your mood a quick positive boost. If you are a morning walker, you can enjoy these things more.
Listen to music
I love music, especially romantic old songs, Sufi songs and ghazals. In the beginning of the day, I prefer very soothing music that can soak me in its tune and prevent negative thoughts.
Meditation or yoga
Early morning meditation or yoga is very useful. it helps you focus better and also gives you ample time to prioritise your day. I used to do meditation and yoga in the evening till now but now I’m trying to do it in the morning. I really feel better for it nourishes my body and mind and makes me calm, balanced and settled.
Have a healthy breakfast
After these activities, you need a good meal. Breakfast is a most important meal of the day so always it should be healthy. I take a cup of green tea with some soaked almonds and a boiled egg. After an hour, one half fried egg, a slice of multigrain bread or poha and some fruits. A healthy breakfast not only gives energy to your body but also maintains your weight.
Read something inspiring
You should read something during your breakfast. I read the newspaper, I don’t touch my mobile phone during this time. If you don’t want to read the newspaper, read something you like, any magazine or any other interesting book. Try staying away from disturbing news and other such articles, instead go for something humorous or motivating.
Think what you want from the day
After waking up early morning you have enough time to think what you want from this day. You can decide the priority of your work as to what to do first and what can be kept for another time. You can make a schedule of your duties, perhaps the night before, if possible. Doesn’t matter you are working or not. In this way, you can fulfil your responsibilities in a more better way.
I’m learning these things & I realize that starting a day positively is not very easy especially if you have been not very positive by nature or suffering from depression. But if you stick to your goals honestly and make it a habit, you will get the results soon.
Coming to my outfit:
If you follow me on Instagram, you might recall I shared a picture of an orange pair of boots, asking for your advice on how to style it. I got a number of suggestions and I’ll be styling them in those ways too. But, for the first time, I wore them with a green crop jumper and black jeans. These dark hues helped the colour of boots to pop up and make them very noticeable. These boots are really comfortable and stylish, a statement pair indeed! I got them from Dresslily and I highly recommend you all to check out this store.
