What exactly is this pure Shea Butter?
This is the first question I asked from myself after seeing The Body Shop 100% Shea Butter From Ghana while checking The Body Shop Shea Butter range at TBS counter, we all have been using products that contain shea butter but never used 100% pure shea butter, I suppose. When I first opened the bag, it looked like a very hard lump of solidified coconut oil. Then I read about it and got to know how useful this product it. I love the idea of using it alone or mix it with other product. Plus I can make my own beauty products with it.
I also got to know that The Body Shop is no longer linked to L’Oreal (L’Oreal does animal testing but TBS philosophy is against it). The brand is now owned by Natura&co paying fare wages and promoting sustainable harvesting methods. Today is the time to write about this product in details but first of all, you should know what actually is this.
What is Shea Butter?
Shea Butter is a fat extracted from the nut of the African Shea tree. When raw it is an ivory color but when processed it becomes more of a white shade. It is known to lock in moisture in hair and skin care products.

My Experience With The Body Shop Shea Butter From Ghana
The Body Shop Shea Butter comes in a plastic re-sealable bag. Also, the outer packaging is a cardboard box, which is 100% recyclable. I can transfer the product any glass jar if I want. The packaging is unique and lovely. For traveling, I can easily transfer some product in a clean small jar.
Texture & Scent
it smells clean and soft with just a lovely feeling. It’s not the kind of scent that would be detectable as a fragrance.
The texture of shea butter at first seems to be rather solid but when I take a small amount of it and rub it on my arm it transforms into a butter-like texture. It spreads easily on my skin and doesn’t give a feeling of stickiness at all. Even in humid weather also it works great and just leaves a smooth and supple skin. I use it after the bath which makes my skin super smooth. It is going to prove a perfect thing for winters and will keep your skin super silky.
The effect is just amazing on my skin. Earlier I used to apply olive oil on my body which really used to moisturize my skin but also used to make it sticky and I had to wipe the oil out from my skin if I wanted to put my clothes in hurry. When I first rubbed it on my skin, I expected feeling heavy and rich like oil, But after trying this out I can now change my opinion. When it touches my skin. it starts melting like I apply butter or ghee on my skin. That moment I feel viscous but pleasant. Once it melts completely with the heat of my skin, it absorbs super quickly so there is no any kind of residue it leaves behind, I just feel a thin sheen on my skin which moisturizes it deeply and leaves behind silky and soft skin. I can feel the softness of the skin by touching it. My nourished and velvety skin thanks me for giving it such pampering drink or food.
I was merrily surprised that It doesn’t make my skin sticky and greasy at all. Is very soothing on the skin. I have been waiting for something like this for the dry winter season that is approaching.
I have been using this on my body and cuticle, I also apply it as a scrub on my lips by mixing it with some sugar and love the result. It is a multi-purpose butter which can be used for hair, body, face, and lips. You can also use it to create your own beauty products from as well. I am thinking to use it on my hair with mix it in coconut oil. You can create more DIY for yourself with this butter.
