Wish you all a very Happy New Year!
How are you, hope you all are fine and fit. Let me just start with how cold it is! Many places have been receiving snowfall over the past few days and the effect of such extreme weather has spread to the lowlands. The changing weather has suddenly brought all areas of Uttarakhand under a cold wave. It happens every winter: The beginning is always so romantic, we fall in love with the fallen leaves and enjoy the slightly fallen temperature but suddenly all the pleasant days are over and we are forced to face the terrifying and dreadful winter when we have to wear heavy coats, sweaters, huge shawls, scarves, clunky boots and a lot of things that make us shapeless, heavy and dull. Don’t you think that we have to sacrifice so much to keep ourselves warm?
But it’s possible to look stylish and fashionable even in this freezing weather if we keep some of these things in mind. There is a way to feel cozy and toasty and stylish, all at once.
Invest In A Statement Coat
When winter hits, 80 percent of the time your outfit is covered up by a big cozy coat. So, why not buy a couple of statement ones that will get you through, right? Instead of going for the good old black, choose an interesting cut or a coat with slightly outlandish features, like a higher neck or a bell-shaped hem. You can even keep your eyes open for dual tone coat. I saw Victoria from IntheFrow wearing one instantly fell in love with it!
Go Glam In Faux Fur
Fur anything adds so much glamour to any outfit and looks perfect in winters! And the best part is that there are so many ways you can play with it! Choose a fur infinity scarf to add just a splash of texture to your coats or dresses. Or invest in a faux fur collar to do the same. You can get a fur coat and turn heads wherever you go. Even a cute little fur bag can add glam to your winter ensemble. New Year party outfit anyone?
Who says you can’t wear a short dress or mini skirt in winters? Obviously tights are an option but you can up the style factor by opting for OTK boots. In fact I suggest you go for grey or brown OTK boots instead of the usual black. It will be much more fun to style. A personal favourite of mine are over the ankle boots. They are not as out there as OTK ones but are statement enough. These dual toned over the ankle boots from Amiclubwear are just the kind you need for winter.
Turn your attention to accessories
It’s not easy for everyone to buy a statement coat. And that’s ok because instead you can focus on adding some oomph with your accessories. Winter accessories mainly include a variety of headgear like fuzzy beanies, wide brim hats and furry earmuffs. You can also invest in a good pair of gloves or a scarf since they are not as expensive as coats and jackets. Let’s not forget that even a bit of cute exposed socks can add a touch of quirkiness to your look.
Coming to my outfit
A few days back, I went out for lunch with my family to one of our favourite places in town. For the occasion, I went for neutral basics, a light brown knitwear and black jeans. For the outerwear, I wore my all time favourite forest green coat. Although sunny, it was too cold to step out in anything other than boots so I went for this dual tone suede boots that I think are so classy and unique. I love the pointed toe and block heels which makes them super comfortable and stylish!
Last night, I was at home with my family, cooked a nice dinner and watched a couple of movies. What did you do for New year’s Eve?
