Hope you had a lovely weekend. I can’t believe it’s July already! Most of this summer we all have stayed home and perhaps many of us didn’t or couldn’t shop for clothing and stuff because we were all working from home and hardly stepping out. After may 15, a number of online stores did start delivering but all this time, I decided to focus more on the things I already have in my closet and restyle them.
How to use old clothes as new outfits-
The internet is your guru. There are so many inspiring and creative ways to use your old clothes as outfits that look entirely different from the original way you must have worn them. Another thing I’d like to suggest is buying more separates like, skirts
and blouses, coords etc because they are way more versatile than one piece dresses.
Talking about the internet, there are so many DIYs on how to recycle old clothes at home. One that I’m really meaning to try is dyeing old white clothes using something as simple as food colour. So, it’s time to get our sewing machines and scissors out and get creative!
I am someone who has loved fast fashion and I still do. But I have also always believed in wearing everything that I own multiple times. With that said, let’s talk about my outfit.
This is not the first time, I’m wearing a pencil dress
in a different way because pencil dresses are usually easy to wear as a skirt
by slipping on an appropriate blouse. This dress is one of my favourites due to it’s lively print, the fit and the premium quality fabric. You can wear it as a skirt as well but I wanted something a bit more relaxed and different. That’s where Lydia’s
(@lydiamillen) lockdown Instagram feed gave me all the inspiration that I needed.
I decided to layer the dress with one of my old white shirts
that I really love. This is another thing that we need to keep in mind now while buying certain clothes like white shirts or denims. These are the most versatile pieces in our closet, so try to invest a little more and buy good quality ones that will last longer.
Shirts with a relaxed fit are best suited for this purpose I feel. I simply tied a loose knot with the two ends leaving the buttons open. Put on my white trainers and that’s it!
If you are wondering why my makeup is slightly OTT, it’s something that I filmed for my IGTV and will be sharing very soon. But I think, it goes really well with the colourful dress, isn’t it?
