Sarees are an all-time-favorite of all. You look really beautiful and elegant in a saree. The only condition of this attire is to carry it well. The most difficult task is wearing saree perfectly. I must say that wearing a saree neatly is an art. Like other skills, practice is the key to this art. If you remember, I said in my previous post that how my mother used to wear saree beautifully just in few minutes. She used to look so elegant and pretty that I kept staring for hours. I fell in love with this gorgeous attire since my childhood. But unfortunately, I could never become as skilled in wearing it perfectly and the reason behind that is the lack of wearing saree regularly in my real life. My mother is an expert in this art, she not only wears it perfectly but also knows how to carry it like a pro. I learned some useful tips from my mother about wearing saree especially on festivals. It’s will be a pleasure to share some tips with you.
Selecting the right color
Selecting the right color is the most important thing while choosing a saree for any festival. Always choose the color according to the occasions and one that suits your skin tone well. In summers, the lovely pastel colors look beautiful while deep and bright colors are perfect for the cold weather. Some colors like black, white and red are evergreen and always look enticing!
Choose a perfect blouse
Wearing the perfect fitting and design blouse is important for every type of body. A well stitched blouse makes a huge difference to your saree. An ill fitted blouse spoils half the beauty of your saree so always be careful while giving your blouse to get stitched. You should decide about the neck and sleeves before giving it to your tailor. A heavy work blouse looks beautiful with a plain saree while with a heavy work saree needs a simple blouse.
Style of draping
I have already said quite a lot about this part but still will insist that it’s the most crucial part of your look. Drape your saree in such a way that gives you beauty and elegance at the same time. You should iron your saree before the day of festival and hang it well with the blouse and petticoat. It’ll be better if you practice wearing your saree beforehand. Get some fine safety pins to pin your saree well.
Accessories make a huge difference
Without the right accessories, your saree look will never be completed. Perfect accessories are like an icing on the cake for your outfit. Beautiful antique necklace, jhumka, bangles and kada give an elegance to your look on festivals. I love wearing a small maang tika with saree. Otherwise a fancy bindi also give a classy effect to your outfit. Matching jewellery, clutch or batua and right footwear complete your look beautifully.
Give a majestic effect to your look with makeup
You should keep your makeup a bit bright on festivals. Your main focus should be on eyes. Apply matching color eye-shadows on your eyes. Golden or silver gives a majestic effect with other shades. Use a high coverage foundation. You can mix some highlighter in your foundation to give a sparkling glow to your face. Apply wing eyeliner to make your eyes enticing. For lips, you should apply some bold and bright colours according to your saree color.
Perfect hair style can do wonder
If you want a traditional look, a braid or bun will be perfect for you. You can decorate it with fancy flowers or pins. Otherwise do a lovely updo or open hair. I love to keep my hair open but pin a few strands. In this way, I can give a balanced effect between traditional and modern.
Picking the right footwear
Never think that you can pick any footwear for your saree since it is not very visible. A wrong footwear can spoil your entire look. Sandals are a perfect choice for for your saree. You should pick a pair of strappy sandals with heels to go with it. Gold, bronze and silver sandals can be selected for festivals. They can add a distinctive touch to your look.
