I wanted to write about this topic since a long time but couldn’t do due to different reasons. Skincare has been always a favourite topic to me. Due to this interest, I had done several professional courses on it. Reading about different people’s skincare routine has been one of my favourite hobbies.Today in this context I want to talk about the facial serum. To maintain our skin in perfect condition we should use facial serum according to our skin.
So what is your skincare routine? Cleansing your skin twice a day, toning and then moisturizing it. You use a sunscreen in the morning and a good night cream before going to bed. Is it a complete routine? For me, no, this routine is a basic skin care routine but after 30, you should add a product that can do something extra for your skin. Yes, a good facial serum will do this needful for your skin.
What is facial serum?
A serum contains active ingredients that will enhance your skin repairing system, removes toxins and rejuvenate your face.
It’s used after cleansing your skin but before moisturizing. It works directly into the skin due to its powerful and active ingredients. You would often notice that these serums comes with a heavy price tag and always in a small quantity. Actually, their powerful high tech active ingredients make them expensive. A serum is particularly suited to this task because it is made up of smaller molecules that can penetrate deeply into the skin and deliver a very high concentration of active ingredients. This makes them a great tool for targeting specific skincare concerns, like wrinkles.
How to use your facial serum
There are the variety of serums available in the market to your reach. They can be of daytime or at night time before going to bed. Some serums are for some specific problems like wrinkles, pigmentation or spots. Whenever you choose a serum for you always read the information written on the packaging. You also follow the direction of its use. Never use a serum during day time if it’s meant for the night. It can be unsafe in the sun rays. At the same time, a serum meant for day time shouldn’t be used at night.
How I use my serum
I use an anti-spot serum for some tiny brown spots on my cheeks. After washing my face in the morning, I apply 2-3 drops of the serum on face, especially on the effected area. Pat it with my fingers for a while till it absorbs into the skin. After that apply the moisturizer/ sunscreen over it. At night, I use an anti-ageing serum to rejuvenate my skin. I take 2-3 drops of serum on my palm, then apply with my fingers in dots all over my face and neck. I spread it with my fingers by patting the skin. I feel so relaxed and calm while patting my facial skin gently. After that, I apply my night cream.
How to choose a serum for you
You should always choose your serum carefully. The first thing to consider is to choose the best anti-ageing serum, then, are the particular characteristics and needs of your face. If you have dry and sensitive skin the best thing to do is to choose a face serum with moisturizing properties. For oily and pigmented skin, you should choose a serum that smooths over the skin and improves its appearance but with a low-fat concentrate. For mature skin, an anti-ageing serum will be best that works on wrinkles.
Facial serums that I am currently using:
As I mentioned above, I use a brightening serum in the morning. I use The Body Shop Drops Of Light™ Pure Healthy Brightening Serum and I love it. It works effectively on dark spots. It contains Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid) which is known to give positive effects in terms of skin brightening and lightening over time. I use Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate at night. It’s my favourite serum and I have just finished my third bottle. It makes my skin healthy and supple and gives a soft and glowing skin every morning.
I would love to know which serums do you use currently and how you use them. Which serum do you think is the best. I need to know about some anti-ageing serums that not only is effective but reasonably priced. Do write in the comment box and stay beautiful.
