Ways To Look Elegant & Classy
There’s something about some women that makes them gracefully fashionable. For example whenever I see Duchess Kate, Indian actress Rekha, Hollywood beauties like Audrey Hepburn; their style, their outfits, makeup, hairstyle and their body language everything screams just one word- ‘sophisticated’ don’t you think so?
What is the actual meaning of sophistication for you? For me, it’s cultured, elegant, polite, calm, gracious and ladylike.
Such kinds of personalities always attract me. I know that fashion actually means fun and excitements but sometimes the best way to put your seasoned style skills to use is by creating looks that feel both smart and sophisticated.
Looking sophisticated and elegant doesn’t mean going expensive and out of your budget. No, you can look elegant and classy even in your budget.
I want to share some of my own tips which I follow when I want to achieve such kind of look. Trust me, it’s not hard and doesn’t demand much effort to get it. The only thing you have to do is using your own imagination and creativity.
Your face
The first thing people notice in your look is your face so you need your skin look radiant and healthy. Your hair should be silky and lustrous and your makeup should be refined and attractive.
For this, you should prepare your skin and hair by using good home remedies and products. You will have to get sufficient time for it. Your makeup should be natural and flawless. It shouldn’t be over or dramatic at all. The base should be smooth and blended. Use some light and natural shades on the eyes to give the lids a healthy sheen. Apply mascara and eyeliner to define your eyes and eyelashes. Use blush and highlighter to give your face a radiance and healthy glow. If you are going to apply a red lipstick, keep the rest of your face natural, especially your eyes.
Your body language
For a sophisticated look, your body language plays an important role. Your body language should be controlled. The way you carry yourself will impress the people instantly. The most important thing is that you should be confident about your body and your attire. You shouldn’t look worried or unsure of yourself at all. Walk confidently and smile gracefully. You should make eye contact in a modest and confident manner. Always keep your posture correct and make sure you stand and sit up tall. Your shoulder and back should be straight.
Your hair
For me, an easy and effortless hairdo is always favourite. A neat bun, a ponytail or just open hair down all can look beautiful. You should add some hair accessories and some light jewels to make your hair glamorous. I’m not very good at dressing up my hair so open hair is always the easiest way for me. It suits me too and I’m inspired by Kate Middleton’s style who always looks gorgeous in open hair. If you are going to keep your hair open, make sure your hair is shampooed and conditioned well.
Your dress
For a sophisticated look, you should select your clothes carefully. Select your clothes according to the season, occasion and your age and body. The best way to get true elegance is to be modest yet beautiful. No need to have very expensive clothes but they should be well cared for and well pressed. Your clothes look fresh and unstained. The most important thing is that your clothes should be modest, the cut and design the neckline and the hem length everything should be graceful. There can always be an edge of glamour but strictly according to the occasion.
Never wear very bright colour or loud prints. Go for subtle prints and neutral colours like white, black, beige and nude. You can pick grey, navy blue pastel green and pink too. White, beige and nude colour with some light golden embroidery gives a real elegance to your look.
Your accessories
Without right accessories, you never can get your sophisticated look. Right accessories complete your overall look. Never wear a lot of accessories, just a few items finish your outfit beautifully. If you are wearing western clothes you need light and simple gold, silver or pearl jewellery, scarves, a watch, sunglasses, handbag and right and fit footwear. For ethnic wear, you require light and delicate pieces of jewellery, a gold or silver watch, matching footwear and a clutch and purse.
Every little detail counts
If you want to achieve a sophisticated look you should be careful about every little thing because from head to toe, everything little detail matters. Your hands should be well manicured. Apply light coloured nail paints like beige, nude, light pink, dull gold or pearly silver will be perfect. Never forget your legs and feet, if you are wearing something in which your legs are exposed, make sure they are waxed and moisturised well. Your feet should be neat and clean.

The main accessory for this outfit was my new Daniel Wellington timepiece – The Classic Petite Melrose watch. I instantly fell in love with this watch due to its elegant design and opulence. The egg white dial is a perfect combination with the rose gold meshed strap. The watch is lightweight, adjustable and very versatile to wear. I can easily wear it with a day casual outfit and also style it with a fancy evening wear. It is indeed a statement piece that every woman should own!

You are right Mica, actually, simplicity is the other name of elegance. So nice to hear you are going to give yourself some relax this week <3
I love the paragraph on body language! I always notice people’s posture whenever I’m in public, and so many people look slumped/tired. Someone once told me that when you slump in your posture it’s a way on minimizing your presence in a room. I loved that. Sit up, straighten your spine, eyes forward – let people know you’re there.
Wonderfully composed post, truly enjoyed reading and you look lovely!

what a lovely article! I couldn’t agree more. Looking elegant and sophisticated has more to do with how we carry ourselves than with expensive clothes. There are some clothing styles that are more elegant in appearance, for example classical and/or feminine cuts. Moreover, I think traditional clothing always makes us look more feminine and ladylike. I think that when we put on a nice dress, we tend to feel more feminine and then we act so. However, without a good posture, without inner elegance (The French call it the elegance of the heart) and nice manners, no dress can make us sophisticated. It is something we need to do ourselves. We need to take good care of ourselves and we need to pay attention to how we carry ourselves. Politeness and kindness are things that make a women more beautiful, inside and out. You look absolutely perfect in this white kurta. I love your mini black dress. The golden accessories are wonderful!
