I think over the years I’ve said quite a lot about my love for Indian ethnic outfits. However, I thought another post on similar lines won’t hurt since it’s the perfect time of the year to get all dressed up in our favorite traditional attires-. Diwali! And what’s different about this post is that I’m going to talk exclusively about Anarkali suits. No girl can say no to a stunning Anarkali suit, especially when it’s the festive season.
The actual dress is dedicated to a very beautiful courtesan in Emperor Akbar’s court by the name of Anarkali. It is said that Jahangir, Akbar’s son was immensely in love with the beautiful lady and their love story has lived ever since. Anarkali suits are simply regal to look at and anyone can carry them. They have made a comeback in the market a number of times but for the past decade they have been constantly in demand and are here to stay.
Anarkali suits are a statement outfit
Who can deny the beauty of an anarkali suit? They are fit for an Indian princess and if styled well can make any woman look like a princess! They are so regal and majestic. Even a not-so-fancy well stitched Anarkali dress is a statement in itself. It’s just so effortless to look good in a lavish anarkali outfit. Just slip into one, do your makeup and hair,
put on a pair of chandelier earrings
and you’re ready to steal the spotlight!
Anarkali suits are perfect for all kinds of festive occasions
Got a wedding or party to attend? Not sure what to wear? Just go for an anarkali suit! They are perfect for any Indian wedding/reception/festival/party. And while I say that, it doesn’t mean that anarkalis are only meant for fancy occasions. I mean you can easily wear a simpler one in your everyday life. But imagine yourself strutting down the staircase in a floor length stunning anarkali with everybody’s eyes on you….sensational, isn’t it?
Available in a number of styles
Anarkalis are far from boring. In recent times they have undergone several modifications which makes them all the more popular. From kurtis which sit on the knee to floor length gown-like pieces, anarkali suits can be paired with different kinds of bottoms too. You can wear them with the conventional ‘churidar’/leggings or slip into palazzo pants for a modern touch. Anarkali suits also suit almost all kinds of body types. You just need to make sure they fit you in the right places which is always easy to get customized. You can even play with the neckline, the back or the hemline.
Coming to my outfit:
And my today’s post features one of the best anarkali suits I’ve ever owned. This is the third outfit from the new AW18 collection from Imara. which you already must have seen on Instagram if you follow me. This is another beautiful set which is perfect for parties and festivals. This suit comes with a full-length Indigo colour Anarkali kurta with copper-gold churidar and dupatta. The kurta is so regal and gorgeous and adds a touch of style to your look, the indigo colour with the gold pattern renders it beautiful. Though it’s not as gherdaar(flared)as the traditional Anarkali kartis, but the entire looks is so gorgeous. The fabric is of premium quality which ensures utmost comfort and also makes it easy to maintain. I wore some gold traditional pieces of jewellery with it and finished my look with a pair of golden sandals. Totally in love with this party set from Imara. Perfect for Diwali!!
