Hi everyone,
How are you all doing? Yes, I know it’s been quite a while. Certain things needed to be taken care of but now I’m going to try to make blogging my priority again. By the way, what are you all up to this summer? These days the weather is so hot and sweaty because it has started raining. It’s a tough task to go out anywhere, especially before sunset. Even in Dehradun, the weather has been extremely hot this summer but if I compare it with other places in India, I shall have to admit that we are slightly better off. Recently I visited my home town and spent a few weeks there, well it was hard to spend 5 mins without air conditioning. But what about the couples who are getting married in this summer? In many states in India, most people plan marriages in summer, the main reason for this being the summer holidays. We all know how splendid and elaborate marriage functions are in India but the weather is certainly of little help.
So what to do? Should we cancel our wedding dates? No, by some smart steps, some well-researched planning, we can make our day joyful and memorable.
Here are some important tips which can help you to make your special day fun filled and cheerful.
The Wedding Venue
You should book a place which offers both outdoor and indoor party areas. Guests can decide if they want to be in the outdoor elements or comfortable inside the air-conditioned building. An outdoor area will be perfect if your function takes place during the night time. You will need some additional things like coolers, high-quality, portable fans, etc to cool the atmosphere. Also, you can provide hand-held, battery-run fans, or pretty paper fans for guests to cool themselves.
Wedding Food, Drink & Starters
Indian weddings are famous for their rich, tasty, hot and delicious food, you can’t avoid it but you can add some food and drinks which suit the hot weather. Add a lot of fresh fruits and veggies with every heavy dish which will provide a nice balanced meal.
Cool and refreshing drinks are the best friends to beat the summer heat. You can enlist a number of drinks like cold drinks, mocktails, buttermilk, sweet buttermilk, different fruit shakes, and fruit juices.
Light, sweet, cold and delicious desserts like Rasgulla, ice cream, pudding, Rasmalai, etc at the end of the meal will make the event unforgettable for your guests. You should choose the sweet item carefully which are not rich or heavy.
Wedding Looks for both Bride & Bridegroom
For the Bride
A bride needs to wear something beautiful and heavily embellished but you need to remember that the fabric of your gown or lehnga should be lightweight and breathable like cotton organdy, chiffon, crepe, or voile. You should choose some pastel colors for your wedding dress. Avoid red, burgundy and orange colors in this weather. If you are a bride’s mate, sister or cousin, pink, light green, peach, and powder blue color attire will be perfect for you.
For makeup, it’s very important to decide what kind of makeup and hairstyle you want to do on that occasion which will suit perfectly for the season. I will suggest you choose a waterproof and matte finish makeup for this weather.
Choose sleeker hairstyles such as a pulled-back chignon or low ponytail. Puffed up hair with a lot going on may not be the best choice for the summer weather.
Guard against shine on your nose and forehead by including plenty of blotting papers and powder in your purse or emergency kit, and ask a bridesmaid to let you know when you need to treat your skin so that you don’t look oil-dipped in those wedding pictures.
For Bridegroom
For bridegroom cotton and linen, dresses will be perfect for this season. Off white, beige, white and gold will be great colors in summer. Sherwani, Achkan, Kurta Pajama are the best option for the bridegrooms and male guests.
Some more tips for making your summer wedding pleasant
Arrange sunglasses
If the marriage function is taking place during the day time, you can arrange a unique sunglass stand from where the guest can take sunglasses for themselves. You can keep different shades and styles of sunglasses so that your guest can choose from some fun options.
Provide a pouch filled with essential things
You can provide your guests with a heat relief pouch which is filled with some essential things like a face mist, a pair of sunglass, a hat and wet tissue wipes. These goodies will give the wedding guests a pleasant surprise and relief from the heat.
Delicate paper fans
You can also arrange a stand with some cute and delicate paper fans custom designed for the wedding. These fans will have multifold benefits such as being a fan and as well containing the wedding program schedule.
These are some of the most effective and efficient summer wedding tips which will ensure all your wedding guests have a fun time at the functions.
Coming to my outfit:
A couple of months back, I shot two wedding/bridal outfits at Rent an Attire. If you haven’t heard about this fashion rental service, check out this post- HERE. So, this is the second outfit that I tried there. While the first one was a heavily embroidered bridal lehenga, this one is a lightweight pastel green number. It has intricate golden embroidery running all over the skirt, blouse, and dupatta. The dupatta is partly saffron which provides a unique and gorgeous contrast to the otherwise mint green ensemble. It was very comfortable to easily wearable lehnga that can be perfect for you if you’re attending the wedding of someone special or even for a bride having a summer wedding. What’s great about such an outfit is that you can go dark with your makeup and play with colors. As for the jewelry, this gold choker necklace was absolutely perfect with the boat neck shape of the blouse. Now, the blouse at the store was a size larger so we had to adjust it temporarily which is why you may notice some of the imperfections. But otherwise, this attire was an absolute beauty and I’m so glad I got a chance to style it. What do you think?
These are wonderful tips! You are stunning in this look and dying over that necklace.
