How’s October treating you? It’s such a lovely time of the year, with all the festivals, holidays, nice weather. Also, in many parts of the world, October gives way to the cooler temperatures which means switching your summer wardrobe to something suitable for autumn/winter. So, let’s talk about some key pieces we all need this autumn to build our capsule wardrobe.
A leather jacket is certainly a must-have in every girl’s closet. But this year, try investing in a pair of leather pants because they go with everything! Leather pants accentuate your legs and look really well put together. They are a statement piece that can make any outfit look fab. If you’re not a fan of absolute leather trousers, you can buy something like the pair of jeans I’m wearing which has a subtle leather look to it but actually isn’t. It gives a similar effect and is a nice change from the good old black denims.
The runway was full of caped coats this year and why not? They look so regal and cozy. Chanel did a tweed one and it was oh so amazing! Most of the brands make detachable cape coats which makes them so versatile. In India, winters are the time to wear coats, not autumn, so I’m actually looking forward to the colder season to style such a coat.
One can’t have enough of beautiful blouses. And they can be worn all throughout the year including autumn. usually during this time of the year, the days are pleasant enough to ditch a jacket. So, you sport your lovely blouses during day time and layer up in the evening. I love this floral blouse with butterfly sleeves and all the other details. Even though I wore it in summers here, I can’t wait to style it in so many other ways.
That bag, please!
Yes you can change your bags with the changing season. It isn’t a necessity but a rattan bag doesn’t really fit into an autumn/winter closet right? For the cooler seasons, darker bags look great with every outfit. Dark green, black, brown, grey are some of the colors you should go for before others. Suede and leather are good choices because they blend in well with the outfit and footwear we usually wear in these seasons.
Mini, why not?
A light knitted top with a structured mini skirt, tights and a pair of boots is my favorite kind of autumn outfit! High street is full of beautiful mini skirts in all kinds of fabrics and you totally need to get them for your autumn-winter closet. They look smart, sophisticated and cute at the same time. Denim, suede, wool, corduroy, leather, there are plenty of options to choose from!
