If you are a winter season admirer like me, you would be happy and enjoying the cool weather. Fall is a time to see beautiful foliage, enjoy tea/coffee and wear warm cozy outfits. These are the days to wander outside without worrying about the hot sun or sweating. As far as I am concerned, most of my time is spent in the garden with my plants these days. I love spending my time with plants every day and in all seasons but as I’m unable to do so in the wet rainy season. Apart from the rain, there are mosquitoes that make it quite impossible for you to wander around here and there. Warm weather and sweating make it even worse but all troubles are gone as autumn starts. But for many others, however, winter means extremely chilly weather, short, dark days, and the stress of dealing with friends and family gatherings.
Anyways, it’s fact that like all weathers, winters have also some downsides, I will not go in details but some extra self-care will make this season more pleasant and refreshing for you. These 5 tips will help you to support yourself not only physically but mentally, and emotionally.
Keep Yourself active
We all feel slightly lazy when chilly days start, in winter the days are short and we all want to huddle ourselves in the blanket but it’ not good for our health. We need physical activity like yoga, simple warm-up exercises. If you don’t like these things, you can just go to the morning or evening walk. Dance is a great and interesting activity to make you warm and refreshed in winter. Do only what you like to do. Don’t force yourself for any activity that makes you stressful and depressed.
Drink plenty of water
I know that it’s a tough task during chilly days. We want to drink a lot of tea, coffee or hot chocolate and drink a little amount of water. It’s not good because our body needs the same amount of water as it requires during summer. We don’t feel as thirsty these days as in summer but still, we need to drink plenty of water to keep our body hydrated the same as summer.
Take proper diet
We often ignore our diet in winter. The days are shorts and our busy schedule don’t allow us to properly take care of our diet. In these busy schedules, we sometimes depend upon pizzas and burgers which are unhealthy and unfavorable for our health. Take proper and healthy diet no matter how busy your routine is. Add some healthy things in your food like dry fruits, fresh fruits, green leaves veggies. Take different kinds of soups. These kinds of food will keep your body energized and nourished.
Give some time to yourself
All the running and hustle and bustle of life make us stressed and bored. In the same daily routine, we often don’t get much time for ourselves that causes more anxiety, strain, and pressure on our mind. Give yourself some favor to getting some time for you. Not much just 1 to half-hour only for yourself. Spend that time for whatever you want to do like gardening, reading your favorite book, listening to music or watching television. I prefer gardening. Prepare a cup of tea for me and reach my plants with it. I feel relaxed and refreshed to see every plant while drinking tea. Have you experienced it?
Do something that makes you happy
Every person is different in oneself. We all have different hobbies but some things are similar in us. We all can be happy by helping others. Every day, we should do something nice for others. This is not a tough task, we can do it in a different form, like wishing your neighbor or colleague birthday, saying good morning a senior citizen during your morning walk, giving a small gift to your maid or gardener will make you happier, improve relationships, and boost your self-esteem.
These are some simple tips that will make you happier, refreshed and energized in this winter. In my opinion, this is the best time to go outside for holidays or at least a picnic with your family. This is also the best time to attend a marriage function. Just some healthy tricks keep you healthy, fit and fine physically and mentally.
