Whenever we see the actresses and models makeup on screen with their shining and dewy skin we wish to know the secret of their glow and radiance. When the weather is dry, horribly cold with harsh and freezing air, it’s really tough to keep our skin glowing. The truth is that our skin looks thirsty and flaky. To make things worse we drink less water and make it drier while sitting always in front of heaters. This dry, flaky and irritated skin spoils the whole game of applying makeup. But if we use some smart trick we also make our appearance dewy and glowing with makeup. In this post, I will share the tricks which I use during winter makeup for achieving glowing and shiny skin
Never forget to moisturize my skin
Whenever I start my makeup, my first step is always to wash my face with fresh water and then massaging it with a hydrating moisturizer well. I never forget to moisturize my neck as well. In this way, my skin prepares for applying the makeup. You should choose the moisturizer according to your skin. I currently use The Body Shop Drops of Youth Day Cream which is perfect for my dry skin.
Way to hydrate my skin
I think it’s not any unique thing which I’m sharing with you. You all know that it’s a perfect way to apply moisturizer when your skin is damp. Applying moisturizer just after showering or washing your face really makes a difference. That is the reason I always wash my face first before applying makeup.
A big ‘No’ for too powdery products
It’s an important step to do if you are a dry skin person like me. During summers, the powdery products provide me a matte and sweat-free makeup finish but I mostly stay away from those powdery products in winter. It’s said that powder gives a dull effect in this season. For daily use, I prefer a good CC cream or a tinted moisturizer. If you want to know my favorite tinted cream it’s Rouge Bunny Rouge Skin Serene Light Skin Perfecter. It’s perfect for achieving a fresh and dewy skin in this dry and harsh winter.
Prefer a luminous primer
I like to use a luminous primer which provides not only a dewy effect on my makeup by its subtle shimmer but adds another layer of hydration to my skin. I avoid the matte oil-free primers these days.
Use a creamy foundation
As I mentioned above, using a CC cream or tinted moisturizer is my first choice but when it comes to a full makeup occasion, I choose a creamy foundation that gives a flawless base with a dewy and glowing finish. I never prefer a heavy full coverage foundation which makes my dry skin more flaky and cakey but loves a creamy based light to medium coverage foundation which glides on the skin smoothly.
Prefer a liquid highlighter and creamy blush
I hardly use powder highlighter in winter. My liquid Illamasqua Radiance Veil works great to highlight the areas which I want to highlight. I also using Smashbox Petal Metal Shimmer Drops with my foundation and love the effect I achieve from it. This the best way to get a natural like glow in this weather.
Hardly use a setting powder
A setting powder doesn’t get a space in my winter makeup routine. A luminous primer, a liquid highlighter, and a light coverage creamy foundation give a perfect result. Sometimes when I require a matte finish I give a light touch up of the setting powder on my T-zone areas only.
Opt for an oil-based makeup remover
Along these steps, I spray a facial mist on my face when I have to keep my makeup for a long time. a hydrating facial mist keeps my skin hydrating without making it greasy.
So these are some small tricks I have been using for years to manage a balance with my dry skin in this weather. If you are living a cold area of the country, you can opt for these tips and enjoy the weather with your dewy and glowing makeup.
I hope these tips help you to maintain your makeup in this harsh dry weather.
