Anything denim is always a closet essential. One of the chicest denim clothing happens to be denim skirts. In warmer days, they are easy and effortless to style but when it comes colder days, we often neglect them because looking chic while staying warm can be a tough task once temperatures drop. These days when winter is at its peak, one can’t imagine wearing a mini a denim skirt but if you are obsessed with denim skirts like me, you can wear it even in these freezing days. Believe it or not, you don’t have to sacrifice warmth or style with a denim skirt because there are many ways to make it suitable for the season. Today I want to share a few different ways that will be helpful for wearing denim skirts in fall/winter and even early spring.
Wear tights or leggings
The first thing that comes to my mind while wearing my denim skirt is tight or leggings. I personally love wearing tights even in summers and you would know my obsession with leggings and tights. These days when the weather gets really cold, protect your legs from getting frozen by wearing such tights that could save your legs from the cold. I will suggest choosing woolen tights or knitted leggings. These are perfect for wearing with minies. A pair of soft thick fur-lined tights will be a good choice for keeping your legs warm. Black tights are the best but grey, burgundy or brown tights also can be worn.
Wear the over knee boots
Over the Knee boots are an even more stylish alternative to tights. They keep your legs warm, look stunning and even allow you to show a glimpse of legs if you want to. A knitted jumper french tucked into a denim skirt styled with OTK boots is one winter outfit you can never go wrong with. It’s cute, stylish and beautiful and is bound to earn you lots of compliments. Just like tights, OTK boots can be found in various colours, heeled or flat.
Wear with a coat
When the weather gets really frigid, you’ll want a nice pea coat or trench coat to block the wind and keep you warm and sartorial. Tights, boots, and a scarf help complement the look and add to the warmth. A coat will fall just below your skirt and look so beautifully layered that you will not want to take it off. You can also style your denim skirt with a nicely tailored blazer or leather jacket in spring.
Wear with an oversized sweater
Nothing looks cuter than a soft oversized jumper french tucked into a denim skirt. Complete the look with tights and ankle boots. If it’s very cold outfit, layer with an oversized coat or just a scarf and beanie. It’s a casual but chic outfit that will look good on everyone. For spring you can switch to a baggy sweatshirt instead of a woollen jumper.
Coming to my outfit
I own a number of denim skirts in my closet but most of them are longer in length. This is my first a-line denim skirt in a mini length and it looks really flattering. I wore this outfit on one the sunny days. Styled my button front denim skirt with a pair of grey tights that I absolutely adore. Patterned tights are so in thanks to the designer ones! Wore a tweed/cashmere jumper with the skirt and accessorized the look with a wide brim hat and ankle boots. What do you think about this outfit?
