I really miss the days when I religiously used to publish my outfit posts on Monday, I still want to do it but unfortunately, the time has changed. We have to work for other social media platforms that keep us so busy, we can’t be regular even if we want to. Anyway, today I’m with an outfit post and I’m going to talk about some tips to look fresh and youthful in ethnic wear.
Choose contemporary designs- I love the traditional silhouettes of suits but if you want to look even more fresh and youthful in your Indian wear, you should try to go for flowy fabrics in flattering cuts. I love A-line and straight cuts for that purpose. The kurta should be comfortable and flowy but still, give your body a shape. Sleeves can have a more trendy look like bell sleeves, puffy sleeves or cape sleeves like in this kurta that I’m wearing. Opt for lighter pastel shades, especially in summers and try to avoid the dark coloured combinations because they can age you. Straight cut pants are the best option for an overall modern look.
Skip the dupatta- Try to look for kurtis that are not too tight on the bust because that’s when most of us need a dupatta. If the kurta has a flattering yet comfortable fit, you can easily ditch the dupatta and it will instantly modernize your look. The focus will be on your kurti which can have a lovely design like this light green one with golden star prints all over it. Looks so beautiful and the design is such that I don’t need a dupatta with it at all. If dupatta is necessary, again choose lighter fabrics.
Accessorize- The right accessories can completely change your look. So, for example, instead of a traditional handbag or clutch, I accessorized this outfit with a cute rattan bag and it just looks so modern and fresh. Mini bags are in trend and they are great for wearing with western wear as well as ethnic outfits. For jewellery also, you can go for dainty bracelets and earrings to add a modern touch to your traditional wear. As far as heels are concerned, we know that golden heels go with most ethnic outfits. But what I recommend is, to go for rose gold or whitish gold colours instead of the usual yellow gold. Trust me, it’ll make a huge difference!
Makeup- Barring occasions and weddings, it’s always good to keep your makeup light and fresh if you want to look youthful. Keeping it light doesn’t mean less makeup, it just means that you should choose the right shades. Add a pop of colour to your eyes with graphic liners or unusual colours, keep the lips light and plump and you’ll instantly notice a difference! For summers I love fresh pink shades or my favourite nude, for winters, a touch of red, brown or nude always works.
